# History of Machine Learning

### 1951

One notable event in 1951 was the introduction of the Ferranti Mark I computer, the world's first commercially available electronic general-purpose computer. While not directly related to machine learning, this marked a milestone in computing technology, providing a platform for further advancements in data processing and analysis – key components of machine learning techniques.

Another relevant development occurred in the same year when Christopher Strachey, a British computer scientist, developed the programming language CPL (Combined Programming Language). Although primarily aimed at scientific and numerical computation, the language included features such as conditional statements and subroutines that became vital building blocks for future programming languages used extensively in machine learning.
